Duncansville Woman Steals Car, Drives it to Court

A Duncansville woman faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property after police said she stole a vehicle from a Greenfield Township man and then drove it to a court hearing in Martinsburg.

According to charges filed by Greenfield Township police, Jessica L. Markovich, 38, stole the 2009 Mazda from the owner's father on July 15.

Police spoke with the vehicle's owner and were told that Markovich did not have permission to take the car.

On July 18, Markovich drove the vehicle to Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger's Martinsburg office for a hearing on charges stemming from a June 28 arrest.

According to court records, Markovich was arrested on June 28 for access device fraud and identity theft. She was jailed on $30,000 cash bail on those charges and was released on July 7 after posting bail.

Markovich was at Blattenberger's office for a hearing on those charges when arrested for the theft of the vehicle.

She was taken into custody by Greenfield Township police and after processing, was arraigned on the new charges by Blattenberger.

Markovich was released on $30,000 unsecured bail and is due to appear in front of Blattenberger on Thursday, Aug. 22, for a preliminary hearing.
