JAMES W. HAMM

James W. Hamm, 77, of Roaring Spring, died Sunday morning, July 14, 2019, at home, following a battle with cancer.

A funeral was held Wednesday, July 17, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring. The Rev. Kevin Locker officiated.

Inurnment was made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.

Jim was born March 31, 1942, in Altoona, the son of the late Cloyd E. “Pete” and Betty A. (Croyle) Hamm.

He married Janet G. Martin on Dec. 16, 1961.

James is survived by his wife; two children: Lynette Hamm of Roaring Spring and Gregg Hamm and wife Jean of Hummelstown; two grandchildren: Lee Elder and wife Kelly and Wesley Elder; a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Rose Elder; a brother, Steve Hamm and wife Kelly; two sisters-in-law: Cindy Hamm and Mary Warmath; and two brothers-in-law: William M. Martin and John H. Martin.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hamm.

Jim was a 1960 graduate of Roaring Spring High School.

He retired in 2004 from Appleton Papers following 39 years of service.

Jim was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring.

He was a life member of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Dept. No. 1 Inc., Roaring Spring, and a member of Iron Masters Country Club.

He enjoyed golfing, wood carving, Altoona Curve baseball, spending time in Pahrump, Nevada, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be given to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 434 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673; or the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, 808 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
