Airport Turnover Arranged

Herald of June 29, 1944

The final turnover of the Cove Valley airport to Altoona and Blair county is scheduled for July 1, and the formal ceremonies in connection with the transfer will take place at the airport on July 4. The program will be in charge of state and county officials, and one of the high officials of the bureau of aeronautics and Judge George G. Patterson of Hollidaysburg will be the chief speakers.

Relatives and neighbors Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday of this week gathered at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin M. Stoner a short distance north of Martinsburg and stored twenty loads of hay in the barn for Mr. Stoner who was hurt Wednesday of last week and was therefore disabled. Mr. Stoner Wednesday afternoon of last week was engaged in hitching a team of horses to the mower in the field. Before Mr. Stoner was able to reach the seat on the mower the horses startled, and he was caught by the cutter bar and thrown. Fortunately the machine was not in gear, else he would have been more seriously injured. The horses kept going after the accident.
