Ramona Kay "Monie" (Smith) Burget, 80, of Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, June 10, 2019, at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care, following an extended illness.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, June 13, at the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., http://www.thompsonfh.com, Roaring Spring, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral on Friday at the Albright Church of the Brethren. Pastor Charles Brewbaker will officiate.
Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Monie was born in Roaring Spring on April 13, 1939, the daughter of the late Frank and Alma (Pollard) Smith.
She married Raymond C. Burget on Nov. 30, 1958.
Monie is survived by her husband; four children: David C. Burget and wife Lynn of Florida, Duane C. Burget and wife Missi of Altoona, Danny C. Burget and wife Sylvia of Martinsburg and Linda K. Allison and husband Mark of Williamsburg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three siblings: Roberta Heuston of Roaring Spring, Mary Kirkham of Duncansville, and Tommy Smith and wife Sandy of Roaring Spring; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Nathaniel Lee Burget; and nine siblings: Clair, Ruth Miller, Betty Olivieri, Pete, Darlene Bowers, Dean, Benny, Wilford and Gary.
Monie was a 1958 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg.
She retired from the Spring Cove School District Cafeteria after 29 years of service and had also worked at Darlene's Restaurant, Roaring Spring.
Monie was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
She enjoyed cooking, traveling, poems and reading, and she especially loved her children, family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Monie's memory may be given to the Altoona Center for Nursing Care, 1020 Green Ave., Altoona, PA 16601; or Grane Hospice, 115 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
