Williamsburg Municipal Authority members did something they had hoped not to – raise water rates during last Tuesday’s (June 4) meeting.
During the Pennvest project process, the Williamsburg Municipal Authority was not eligible for any grants because its “rates were too low.”
However, to qualify for the Pennvest loan, rates needed to be raised to make sure they were “satisfactory” for the authority to be able to pay for loan. Authority members were unaware of this stipulation in the agreement passed and voiced displeasure for Stiffler McGraw for not making them aware of this before application...
