Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
Claysburg PAST (Preserving Artifacts Stories and Traditions) will hold a two-hour history information program at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, at the Claysburg-Kimmel High School auditorium.
This slide show and talk will include information on the Claysburg area that many probably have never heard. The presentation will include information going back more than 200 years to the settling of the town.
Some of it is history, legend, lore and probably a few lies that have been passed down through the years. It will include information on the Warrior's Indian Path that goes through Claysburg and the archeological excavations that occurred there, Dunnings Mountain and origin of names of local areas, businesses you probably did not know existed, sports, World War II, hoboes, "Little Alaska," ghost stories, distilleries and prohibition and more.
Tickets will be available at the door. Proceeds will be used for the Claysburg Hall of Fame, Christmas in the Park and other needs of Claysburg PAST.
