C-K to Honor 80 Graduates June 3

Eighty seniors are candidates to receive their diplomas during Claysburg-Kimmel High School's 98th commencement exercise, scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, in the high school auditorium.

Baccalaureate

The Claysburg-East Freedom Ministerium will sponsor a baccalaureate service for C-K's graduating class at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 1, in the high school auditorium.

The service is open to the public as well as students, parents, family members, administrators, teachers and school directors.

There will be several of the seniors participating in the program, including reading scripture and special music.

The Claysburg Rotary Club will serve refreshments following the program.

Commencement Service

"Reflections," with Siddiq M. Smouse, class treasurer, will follow the traditional Pomp and Circumstance processional to be played by Thomas L. Ringler, organist.

Justinna M. Brown, class secretary, will lead the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Emily G. Claar, president of the graduating class, will give the welcome address.

Richelle I. Brown will give the salutatorian address with Emily G. Claar delivering the valedictorian address.

Canaan A. Burket, class vice president, will present this year's Teacher Appreciation Award.

Stephen P. Puskar secondary principal, will present the Class of 2019 and hand out individual awards.

Richard W. Gergely, school board president, and Darren J. McLaurin, district superintendent, will present diplomas to the graduates.

The singing of the school's alma mater by the Class of 2019 and the audience will follow the presentation of diplomas.

Mr. Ringler will play the recessional.

Serving as marshals will be juniors Maggie B. Knisely and Benjamin M. Weiland.

C-K Class ‘On My Way’

The Class of 2019 at Claysburg-Kimmel High School selected as its motto, “I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you have actually left them.”

The class song is “On My Way,” by Phil Collins. Class colors are navy blue, lilac and silver. Gerbera daisy is the class flower.

Class officers are Emily G. Claar, president; Canaan A. Burket, vice president; Justinna M. Brown, secretary; and Siddiq M. Smouse, treasurer.

Jennifer L. Kruise, high school art teacher, is the senior class advisor.

Marshals (junior class) are Maggie B. Knisely and Benjamin M. Weiland.
