Proposed Skate Park Dies
Herald of May 28, 2009
The proposed skate-board/BMX park at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park is dead. According to the president of the Skateboarders and Bikers of the Cove organization, there is not enough interest in continuing to raise funds for the project. Following a poor showing of volunteers at a March 30 meeting, President Suzanne McNally issued a deadline for volunteers to step forward and help with the project by the end of April. She received no response.
Williamsburg wants its residents’ dirt. David Cadle is asking the community to bring dirt to Williamsburg. Cadle and the Crossroads Christian Youth Center youth plan to improve the lot in the middle of town at High and Second streets, where the old Hollidaysburg Trust Co. bank building used to stand. “It is currently a drab, gray lot. We can do better than that,” Cadle said. “We need topsoil so we can plant grass and flowers and make it an area that reflects pride in our appearance.” Money raised will be used for grass and seeds for the lot beautification and other summer projects.
