H-burg Man Receives IUP Criminology Scholarship

Zackary Weaver, a criminology and criminal justice major at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, is the 2019 recipient of the Michael P. Stewart III Memorial Scholarship.

Weaver, son of Earl and Teri Weaver, is a graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. He earned PSAC Scholar-Athlete honors and is a dean's list and provost scholar. He volunteered with Read Across America, the Indiana County Humane Society and youth football camps.

The scholarship was named in memory of Michael P. Stewart III, who graduated from IUP with a degree in criminology and from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 2014. He started his career as a state police officer in Chambersburg and then transferred to Greensburg. After serving two years, he lost his life in the line of duty in an automobile accident at the age of 26. The scholarship was established by his parents and brother to honor Trooper Stewart's life, vocation and legacy.
