CENTRAL
On May 6, the Lady Dragons traveled to Cresson and returned with an 11-3 victory over Penn Cambria (9-5).
The Lady Dragons exploded for seven runs in the final three innings to break open the game. Dylan Claycomb was the winning pitcher for Central.
CHS 6, Clearfield 2
On May 7, the Dragons hosted league rival Clearfield and handed the Lady Bison (9-8) a 6-2 defeat. The Lady Dragons posted four runs in the second frame and made the lead stand up. Again Claycomb was the winning pitcher.
CHS 6, Mt. Union 1
On May 8, Mount Union visited Martinsburg for a non-league affair and was defeated 6-1. Then game was tied after three innings before the Dragons scored late to take the win. Claycomb got her third win of the week on the mound as she allowed just two hits.
CHS 16, H-burg 1
On May 9 it was host Hollidaysburg’s turn to challenge the Lady Dragons but the Lady Tigers were pounded 16-1 in six innings. Caroline Eckenrode started on the mound, striking out two and getting the win. Madison Daugherty threw in relief. Shannon Detwiler paced the offense with three hits while Maddi Metzler had a home run and single. Dylan Claycomb, Tori Longenecker, Bailey Heuston and Alana Padula each had two safeties.
CHS 7, Tyrone 0
Central completed the regular season with a 7-0 blanking of homestanding Tyrone (13-7) on May 10. Central finished the regular season with a 14-6 record and now set their sights on the District 6 playoffs.
After no scoring in the opening two innings, the Dragons broke the ice with a tally in the third. Central added a pair of runs in the 5th and broke open the game with four in the seventh.
Ashley Negley, Dylan Claycomb and Alana Padula each had a pair of hits in the win. Claycomb ripped a home run and added a pair of runs batted in while Negley double, singled and drove home three. Padula and Metzler each added RBIs. Bailey Heuston and Padula each scored twice for the Lady Dragons.
Claycomb also excelled on the mound as she tossed a two-hit shutout.
C-K
C-K 10, WHS 0
The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Williamsburg on May 7 and earned a 10-0 victory. C-K scored seven runs in the first two innings en route to the win in five innings.
Haileigh Reed belted two home runs among her three hits and drove in four runs. Harleigh Cavender ripped a three-run home run. Emily Claar (three runs scored) and Jazmin Kennedy (two runs scored, one double) both had two hits in the win.
Olivia Bushore struck out eight and tossed a one-hitter in the complete-game performance,
Kaelyn Calderwood had Williamsburg’s only hit of the afternoon.
Elizabeth Frederick struck out eight in the loss.
C-K 4, Glendale 0
At Glendale on May 8, C-K scored twice in both the fifth and seventh innings on its way to a 4-0 victory.
Haileigh Reed doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Lady Bulldogs. Corryne Weyandt added a double in the win.
Olivia Bushore fanned 12 batters, walked only one and yielded four hits.
C-K 15, Tussey Mt. 0
A seven-run second inning paved the way for C-K’s four-inning, 15-0 victory over Tussey Mountain on May 9.
Sierra Walters tossed a no-hitter and struck out three in the victory.
Haileigh Reed (double), Madison Frye (double) and Harleigh Cavender (triple) and Emily Claar each had two hits for the Lady Bulldogs. Frye and Cavender each had three RBIs, while Jazmin Kennedy and Reed both drove in two runs.
Claar scored three runs, while Kennedy, Reed, Cavender, Megan Hartman and Madison Knisley all crossed the plate twice.
C-K 2, Windber 0
The Lady Bulldogs ended the regular season with a 2-0 victory at Windber on May 15, their 16th win in 20 games. C-K scored its two runs in the third inning.
Emily Claar led C-K with three hits. Madison Frye had a double among her two hits. Haileigh Reed and Harleigh Cavender were credited with RBIs.
Olivia Bushore and Sierra Walters combined on a three-hitter and seven strikeouts.
NBC
NB 14, Tussey Mt. 2
Leading 4-2 against Tussey Mountain on May 7 heading into the seventh inning, Northern Bedford racked up 10 runs en route to a 14-2 victory.
Alaina Stuckey had two hits and scored twice for the Lady Panthers. Taylor Nycum doubled and drove in two runs. Also scoring twice were Madison Johnson and Krysta Kennedy.
Everett 12, NB 11
Host Everett pushed a run across in the bottom the seventh inning of its 12-11 victory over Northern Bedford on May 8. NB had tied the game in the top half of the inning.
Sarah Bowser had two hits, including a double, and five RBIs for Northern Bedford. Allie Snider had three hits and two RBIs. Sarah Heck had two hits and two RBIs.
NB 20, F-M 6
The host Lady Panthers breezed to a 20-6, four-inning victory over Fannett-Metal on May 15.
Trailing 2-1, NB went ahead following an eight-run second. After Fannett-Metal pulled to within 9-5, the Lady Panthers tallied six runs in the third. Ahead 15-6, NB closed the game with a five-run fourth.
Madison Johnson (home run) and Sarah Bowser each had three hits for NB. Johnson scored four times and drove in three, while Bowser collected four RBIs. Mayakla Kochara, Alaina Stuckey and Krysta Kennedy each had two hits. Stuckey drove in three runs and Allie Snider two. Deerin Davis scored four times, while Brittany Ebersole added three runs, and Snider, Kochara and Stuckey each scored twice.
WHS
WHS 14, H-burg 4
On May 11, host Williamsburg cruised to a 14-4, five-inning victory against Hollidaysburg. Tied at 4-4, the Lady Pirates scored three in the third, one in the fourth and six in the fifth.
Elizabeth Frederick doubled, homered, drove in two runs and scored twice for WHS. Desiree Kyle added two hits and scored twice. Kaelyn Calderwood (double), Paige Gunnett, Ericka Loose and Emily Smith each had two RBIs. Emily Smith scored three runs, while Ashley Brubaker, Kyle and Marissa Harclerode each scored twice.
Frederick gave up five hits and struck out seven in the victory.
WHS 2, Juniata Valley 1
Also on May 11, WHS edged Juniata Valley 2-1.
Marissa Harclerode had two hits and one RBI for the Lady Pirates. Emily Smith doubled and drove in one run. Alexi McMonagle also doubled.
Elizabeth Frederick fanned 14 hitters, walked one and gave up two hits in the complete-game win.
WHS 15, Tussey Mt. 0
A nine-run first-inning propelled WHS to a 15-0, four-inning victory at Tussey Mountain on May 14.
Elizabeth Frederick collected three hits, drove in four runs and scored three times. Emily Smith had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Frederick tossed a four-hitter and struck out eight.
WHS 5, NB 3
Host Williamsburg defeated Northern Bedford 5-3 on May 16.
Paige Gunnett (double), Ashley Brubaker and Desiree Kyle (two runs scored) each had two hits for the Lady Pirates (11-8). Emily Smith tripled and drove in two runs. Brubaker stole three bases.
Elizabeth Frederick fanned 15 hitters en route to the complete-game victory.
Krysta Kennedy doubled among her two hits to lead Northern Bedford (9-9). Sarah Bowser added a double.
