It’s Time for Christians to Speak Up
To the Editor:
Jeremiah said, “How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people!” (Lam 1:1). These are getting to look more and more like the last days of the United States of America. The America that I and my contemporaries know could quickly vanish away forever.
How could it happen? Very simple. God’s people slumber and do not rise up and pray, be outspoken, vote, take a stand – if we allow lawless and moral midgets directed by reprobate minds to take office, then our doom is sealed.
It won’t be a nuclear attack that obliterates us, but national suicide. All the signs of moral decay have been festering for years – we have abortion on demand, same-sex marriages, open-use bathrooms and transgender reassignment as proper. Yet the church has not given it much thought nor been very vocal (for the most part). We’re like a homeowner who sees signs of termites and just blows away the mounds of sawdust and forgets about the termites. We may try to forget, but they are still there undermining the foundations.
Jeremiah lamented the destruction of Jerusalem and God’s covenant land overrun by pagans. Will God spare us for the same decadence?
The church has fallen into the dangerous belief of not addressing politics in the pulpit. So, that means we cannot mention abortion, infanticide, sodomy, gambling, recreational use of drugs and deer hunting on the Lord’s Day?
Schools have been counted as “off-limits” as well by many; yet behind the scenes there is a battle going on for the minds and souls of our children. The religion of humanism (declared to be a religion by the U.S. Supreme Court) teaches as its main tenant – evolution.
They are sucking the moral lifeblood out of our children and giving them a transfusion of socialism, secularism and liberalism. Reprobate politicians seek to gain power by allowing illegal immigrants to vote and by brainwashing our children. Political correctness and timidity have paralyzed the church and many pastors. We bend over backwards to allow “snowflakes” to dictate what we say. Some think it is a constitutional right not to be offended and they melt easily under scrutiny.
The time has come and is now for every true Christian and every true preacher of the word to obey the call of the prophet – “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression” (Isa 58:1).
