An Everett man found dead along Nason Drive in Roaring Spring on Thursday morning, April 18, was the victim of a hit and run.
State Police, Hollidaysburg, said John R. Garner, 64, had gone to the emergency department at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center on Wednesday evening, April 17, for treatment of a laceration.
Police said Garner was discharged at approximately 6:30 p.m. and hospital surveillance video showed him leaving the hospital on foot. Garner was reported missing when he did not return home.
Garner’s body was found at around 9 a.m. along Nason Drive. He was wearing a blue plaid flannel shirt, blue jeans and a camouflage hat. He was 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighed approximately 185 pounds.
Police initially did not suspect foul play, but an autopsy performed on Friday, April 19, showed the victim died of blunt-force trauma which was caused by being struck by a vehicle.
Police said the vehicle that struck the victim would have a “high profile,” such as a pick-up truck or SUV. Police believe the striking vehicle will have damage to the front end.
Police are asking that anyone who may have seen the victim walking in the area of Nason or any other information, to call Trooper Eric Glunt at the Hollidaysburg State Police Barracks at 696-6100.
