Centra Softball Team Moves to 5-2

The Central Lady Dragons softball team split a pair of contests last week, both by identical 10-0 scores. After falling to Philipsburg-Osceola on the road, the Dragons rebounded by defeating Everett at home.

The team’s record now stands at 5-2 on the season.

P-O 10, CHS 0

Undefeated Philipsburg scored five times in the second frame, added four in the fourth and ended the contest in the fifth due to the 10-run rule.

P-O had only four hits in the win but benefitted by nine errors by the Lady Dragons defense.

Dylan Claycomb took the loss on the mound as she struck out six and walked two.

CHS 10, Everett 0

The Dragons scored four runs in the opening inning against Everett and ended the game 10-0 after five frames. Central had a 14-1 advantage in hits. Cam Feathers had a home run and double while driving home three runs. Tori Longenecker also homered, while Maddi Metzler doubled and singled. Ashley Negley, Dylan Claycomb and Bailey Heuston had two hits each. Claycomb, Kara Stultz and Lingenfelter drove home a run each, while Metzler plated two runs.

Claycomb got the win on the mound as she allowed just the one single while striking out ten and walking one.

“Two totally different games,” Central coach Jonathan Burkett said. “Philipsburg has a great team again and we gave them numerous chances with our mistakes on defense. The girls played well against Everett.”
