Stanley R. Brumbaugh, 80, of Saxton, died on Monday morning, April 15, 2019, at UPMC Altoona, following a brief illness.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, April 18, at the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., http://www.thompsonfh.com, Roaring Spring, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 19. Pastor Earl Herr will officiate.
Interment with military honors will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Stanley was born on April 25, 1938, in Roaring Spring, the son of the late Ralph W. and Vera M. (McIntyre) Brumbaugh.
He married Betty Lucille “Lou” Starr on Oct. 11, 1957. She preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2017.
Stanley is survived by three children: Franklin R. Brumbaugh and wife Elizabeth of New Enterprise, Cheryl L. Kurtz and husband Ron of Williamsburg and Darryl G. Brumbaugh and wife Anita of Jacksonville, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren: Franklin, Eric, Angelina, Nina, Patrick, Stacey, Danelle, Brent, Joshua, Justin, Keith and Autumn; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori A. McConnell; a great-granddaughter, Madison Rayne Heaton; and a sister, Ruth A. Moore.
He was a 1956 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg.
Stanley was a United States Air Force veteran from 1957 to 1966, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and receiving several awards for pistol marksmanship on the Air Force Pistol Team.
He retired as a self-employed excavating contractor.
Stanley was a member of the Martinsburg Brethren in Christ Church and had also attended Nisland Independent Church in Nisland, South Dakota.
He enjoyed trains, watching westerns, especially John Wayne, watching sports and racing stock cars.
Contributions in Stanley’s memory may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
