Library Plans Longer Hours
Herald of March 24, 1994
The Martinsburg Community Library is changing its hours of operation to better serve the community. Beginning April 4, the library will be open Monday through Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The change also means that the library will be open an additional seven hours.
Development of a shopping mall just south of Roaring Spring anchored by a Food Lion supermarket is back on track after beng sidelined for more than a year. Greencastle Development Co. of Annapolis, Md., has notified the Roaring Spring Municipal Authority that it plans to begin construction of the shopping center this spring.
The Department of Environmental Resources issued a permit on March 7 to New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. allowing the northern half of the existing Roaring Spring quarry floor to be lowered by 30 feet. Stone available for quarrying under earlier permits was nearly depleted. The new permit is expected to give the quarry three or four more years of mining.
