FILOMENA M. SMITH

Filomena M. Smith, 91, a resident at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, formerly a resident at Graystone Court, Roaring Spring, was welcomed into her heavenly home on Friday evening, March 15, 2019, at The Village surrounded by family.

A funeral was held on Tuesday, March 19, at Vicksburg Grace Brethren Church. Pastor Sean McGill officiated.

Interment was made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.

Filomena was born on June 26, 1927, in Salerno, Italy, the daughter of the late Alfredo and Maria (Rosetta) Marchetti.

She married Harold L. "Snuffy" Smith in Salerno, Italy during World War II. He passed away on March 19, 1987.

Filomena is survived by four children: Annie Andrews of Hollidaysburg, Harold Smith (Edna) of Martinsburg, Donald Smith (Becky) of Woodbury and Dottie Showalter (Don) of Roaring Spring; three grandchildren: Nick Smith (Codie), Jessa Saive (Justin) and Megan Ritchey (Ben); three great-grandchildren: Tristan Ritchey, Peyton Ritchey and Cole Fetter; a sister, Ciri of Italy; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Smith of Emporium; and a special friend, who was just like a daughter, Joyce Dalton of Hollidaysburg.

She was preceded in death by a son, William; a daughter, Grace; a son-in-law; Dick Andrews, and three sisters.

Filomena was a member of Vicksburg Grace Brethren Church.

While raising her children, she had worked as a waitress at the Eldon Inn, Roaring Spring, and various other establishments.

She enjoyed traveling with her children, spending time with family and friends, her outings with the Sisters In Faith (Martinsburg), and she loved watching her old westerns.

Filomena will be fondly remembered for her lasagna and home-made pies.
