Stiffler-McGraw Engineer John Clabaugh, Hollidaysburg, was present to give an update to the Williamsburg Municipal Authority during the regular meeting on Tuesday, March 5.
Clabaugh said that authority projects will be put out for bid in May following the April Pennvest meeting and approval of funding.
Pennvest provides services to the communities and citizens of Pennsylvania by funding sewer, storm water and drinking water projects throughout the commonwealth.
Clabaugh also told authority members that he was expecting a small projects grant to become available during the spring months for projects of $500,000 or less.
Authority members discussed several available options but settled on applying for a grant for water meter replacements.
Williamsburg Borough Manager Joseph Lansberry said that the current water meters are about 22 years old and in the past few years, the authority has had to replace a few each year.
Manager Lansberry estimated that there are 500 to 600 more water meters to replace at about $150 per meter. Authority Member Daryl Cole made a motion to give permission for Clabaugh examine the project and the motion passed.
