Lady Pirates Fall In First Round

The 2018-19 campaign came to an end for the Williamsburg High School girls’ basketball team on Monday night, Feb. 18.

The Lady Pirates, seeded sixth in the District 6 Class 1A playoffs, fell to third-seeded Purchase Line 54-36. Details will appear in the Feb. 28 edition of the Morrisons Cove Herald.

Williamsburg finished its season with a 7-15 record.

Williamsburg closed out its regular-season schedule to back-to-back losses.

Tussey Mt. 59, WHS 37

A 33-10 run spanning the second and third quarters propelled Tussey Mountain to a 59-37 victory against visiting Williamsburg on Feb. 13.

Williamsburg trailed just 8-7 after the first quarter before Tussey Mountain broke the game open. The Lady Pirates won the fourth quarter 20-18.

Morgan Webb led Williamsburg with 14 points. Kassidy McChessney added 12 points and 12 rebounds in the defeat.

Glendale 48, WHS 42

Williamsburg closed out its regular-season schedule with a 48-42 setback to visiting Glendale on Feb. 14.

Alexi McMonagle tossed in a game-high 19 points, including two 3-pointers, for Williamsburg. She added She added five rebounds and three steals. Kassidy McChessney hauled down seven rebounds.
