The Claysburg-Kimmel High School girls’ basketball team began a stretch of four games in four days on Feb. 13 with a 74-35 victory over visiting Northern Bedford.
C-K stormed out of the gates to a 22-7 lead after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 37-12 at the break. The Lady Bulldogs dominated the second half 37-23.
Three players scored in double figures for C-K. Emily Claar paced all scorers with 23 points. Megan Hartman tossed in 18 points, including two 3-pointers, and Bailey Garver added 11 points.
Madison Cottle paced Northern Bedford with seven points, including two 3-pointers. Sarah Heck and Makayla Kochara each added six points.
C-K 86, West Branch 44
Four players scored in double figures as C-K rolled to an 86-44 victory against visiting West Branch on Feb. 14.
The Lady Bulldogs led 24-8 after one quarter and 48-28 at halftime. C-K opened the second half with a 22-6 surge in the third quarter and won the final frame 16-10.
Emily Claar poured in a game-high 24 points to lead C-K. Bailey Garver hit three 3-pointers and finished with 17 points. Olivia Locke and Megan Hartman added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
C-K 55, Mo Valley 42
A 35-20 run in the second half lifted C-K to a 55-42 win over visiting Moshannon Valley on Feb. 15.
C-K’s Megan Hartman drained three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 19 points. Emily Claar and Olivia Locke added 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Tussey Mt. 61, C-K 48
Visiting Tussey Mountain closed the game with a 23-12 run to knock off C-K on Feb. 16, 61-48.
C-K (17-5) trailed 29-15 at halftime before closing the gap with a 21-9 run in the third quarter.
Emily Claar and Rebekah Claar tossed in 18 and 10 points, respectively, for the Lady Bulldogs. Bailey Garver added eight points, including two 3-pointers.
The Lady Bulldogs, the sixth seed in the District 6 Class 2A playoffs, will travel to third-seeded Juniata Valley at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 21, for a quarterfinal matchup.
