The Pa. Department of Revenue on Feb. 6 issued a reminder to taxpayers to watch for scams that are used by criminals to steal money and personal financial information.
One scam involves phony “Final Demand For Payment” notices mailed to taxpayers. The notices from the “Tax Processing Center” threaten the seizure of property if the recipient fails to make immediate payment to the “State of Pennsylvania.” The notices provide an 800-number to call to “avoid enforcement.”
