Cove Forge Agrees to Woodbury Demands

Andrew Helmer, a Cove Forge Behavioral Health Center representative, attended the Feb. 7 Woodbury Township meeting to say that Cove Forge has agreed to remove the ropes course out of the township’s right-of-way.

The presence of the ropes course on a township right-of-way has been a point of contention between Cove Forge and the township for several months. Helmer said that the plans for the water retention ponds were sent to the state Dept. of Environmental Protection. Because of Cove Forge complying with township requests, the township supervisors approved an extension to the Cove Forge land development permit until April.

Township Supervisor Craig Hamilton made a motion to pay $50 each to the emergency management coordinators for the township – Steve Lane and Bill Deters – and thank them for their work for the township. This stipend will be added for budget review every year.

The franchise renewal agreement was up for renewal between Comcast and the township. Comcast can pay the township up to 5 percent of township customers’ Comcast bills as revenue for the township.

Currently, the percentage is estimated at 1 percent. Township Solicitor Dave Pertile, who was in attendance at the meeting, suggested to the supervisors that he should contact Comcast to get more information.

Vice Chairman Ed Clark remarked, this “is more revenue to look at.”
