Scoring Droughts Hurt Pirates

The Williamsburg High School boys’ basketball team, outscored 20-3 in the fourth quarter, suffered a 72-45 loss at West Branch on Jan. 14.

The Blue Pirates were behind 52-45 entering the final frame.

Jake Hileman paced Williamsburg with 12 points, including two 3-pointers. Josiah Dowey added 11 points.

Dylan James grabbed eight rebounds, dished out three assists and collected two steals. Jared McCall added seven rebounds, while Hileman and Lambert Palmer each had three steals.

A 30-9 second-quarter surge propelled Bellwood-Antis to a home victory against Williamsburg on Jan. 18.

The Blue Devils turned a 13-12 deficit after one quarter into a 42-22 advantage at halftime. Williamsburg was outscored 43-40 in the second half, including 21-14 in the final quarter.

Scoring 10 points each for the Blue Pirates were Adam Uplinger (three 3-pointers), Jake Hileman (two 3-pointers) and Jared McCall. Dylan James chipped in with nine points.
