Lady Pirates Top West Branch

The Williamsburg High School girls’ basketball team had three players score in double figures during its 57-41 victory against visiting West Branch on Jan. 15.

Alexi McMonagle (two 3-pointers) paced the Lady Pirates with a game-high 19 points. Madison Bem (two 3-pointers) added 14 points, while Marcella Lynn hit three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points.

Leading 18-12 at halftime, WHS won the second-half scoring battle 39-29.

Kassidy McChessney hauled down 10 rebounds for Williamsburg. McMonagle added nine rebounds and three steals. Anna Ward collected five steals, while Hannah Brenneman blocked two shots.

B-A 84, WHS 30

Bellwood-Antis stormed out to a 30-5 lead after one quarter on Jan. 17 at Williamsburg and cruised to an 84-30 victory.

Bellwood-Antis’ lead grew to 50-13 at halftime. The Lady Blue Devils also controlled the second half 34-17.

Alexi McMonagle paced the Lady Pirates with 11 points.
