C-K Girls Lose Twice on Court

The Claysburg-Kimmel High School girls’ basketball team suffered back-to-back losses for the first time during the past week.

The two-game skid dropped the Lady Bulldogs to 8-3 on the season.

B-A 70, C-K 68

Bellwood-Antis rallied for a 70-68 victory at C-K on Jan. 15.

C-K trailed 17-11 after the first quarter but went on a 41-33 surge during the next two quarters. B-A closed the game with a 20-16 run. The Lady Blue Devils trailed by 12-, 64-52, with 5:10 remaining in the game.

Emily Claar netted 26 points (four 3-pointers) and Megan Hartman 23 (six 3-pointers) to lead C-K. Olivia Locke chipped in with 10 points.

Claar added 11 rebounds and three assists. Jazmin Kennedy grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists to go along with two steals. Rebekah Claar and Bailey Garver added four and three assists, respectively, while Hartman had three steals.

Ali Campbell poured in a game-high 40 points (two 3-pointers) for B-A.

B-A shot 22-for-30 from the foul line, compared to C-K’s 4-for-7 performance.

Juniata Valley 55, C-K 8

Juniata Valley’s suffocating defense limited C-K to eight points on Jan. 17.

Valley led 22-2 after one quarter and 38-4 at halftime. C-K was outscored 17-4 in the second half, including 8-0 in the third quarter.

Kassidi Rinnger led C-K with three points.
