BETTY L. SNYDER

Betty L. Snyder, 94, of Roaring Spring, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, Jan. 16, 2019, at home.

A funeral was held on Monday, Jan. 21, at the Bice Memorial Chapel, Homewood at Martinsburg. The Rev. Gerald McCuller officiated.

Interment was made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.

Betty was born on Oct. 8, 1924, in East Freedom, the daughter of the late Charles and Sara (Langham) Aungst.

She married Wilbur “Jake” Snyder on Oct. 30, 1945. He passed away on May 3, 1997.

Betty is survived by two children: Betty Lou Boyer and husband Stephen of Myerstown and Denny Snyder and wife Karen of Roaring Spring; five grandchildren: Stacey Boyer, JR Boyer, Sara Yinger, Tammie Daughenbaugh and Tawnya Hitz; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Ivy Smith and Pauline Herron, both in Hollidaysburg.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles (Sonny) E. Snyder; and four brothers: Pete, John, Clair “Whitey” and Dick.

Betty was a 1942 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.

She had previously been employed at Apple Packers, Ore Hill, and Shaffer’s Grocery Store, Roaring Spring.

Betty was a member of the Roaring Spring Mennonite Church, where she had served as treasurer for 50 years.

She enjoyed knitting, camping, puzzles and Facebook.

She was a member of the Shanty Shakers Camping Group.
