The Williamsburg High School girls’ basketball team won its fourth game of the season on Jan. 8, edging visiting Glendale 43-39.
Williamsburg led 11-4 after the first quarter, only to see Glendale pull to within 20-19 at halftime. The Lady Pirates had a 34-30 advantage heading into the final eight minutes, where each team scored nine points.
Alexi McMonagle poured in a game-high 17 points for Williamsburg.
St. Joseph’s 34, WHS 19
Despite not scoring any points in the second quarter, visiting St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy rallied for a 34-19 victory over Williamsburg on Jan. 9.
Trailing 8-5 at halftime, St. Joseph’s controlled the second half with a 29-11 run.
Alexi McMonagle paced Williamsburg with nine points.
Mount Union 44, WHS 38
Host Mount Union outscored Williamsburg 27-19 in the second half to pick up a 44-38 victory on Jan. 11.
Williamsburg held a 19-17 lead at halftime.
Alexi McMonagle poured in a game-high 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Lady Pirates. Kassidy McChessney added nine points in the setback.
