Hollidaysburg Woman to Run for Blair Office

Anita Terchanik, 54, of Hollidaysburg announced her candidacy seeking the Republican nomination for Blair County Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds.

Terchanik made her announcement on Friday, Jan. 11, at the Capitol Hotel in Hollidaysburg.

Terchanik has extensive experience as a real estate paralegal for more than three decades in Blair, Bedford, Cambria and Huntingdon counties. She began her career as a real estate paralegal with Goodman & Notopoulos, Altoona, in 1983. In 1992, she took a job with Evey-Black law firm, Hollidaysburg, where she attained senior paralegal status in 2003.

Hailing from Cresson, Cambria County, Terchanik is a 1982 graduate of Penn Cambria High School, Cresson, and received an Associate of Science degree from Mount Aloysius Junior College, Cresson.

Terchanik is seeking the position currently held by Mary Ann Bennis, who announced her retirement Tuesday, Jan. 8.

"I've respected Mary Ann's 16 years of conscientious work in the Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds Office, and I will strive to follow her lead in keeping accurate records and at the same time keep moving the office forward with available technology and up-to-date trends," Terchanik said in announcing her candidacy.

Terchanik resides in Hollidaysburg with her husband, Dennis. They have two sons.

She is a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, and Catholic Daughters of America.
