JANET L. WRIGHT

Janet L. Wright, 85, of Martinsburg, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2018, at Homewood at Martinsburg.

A funeral was held on Monday, Dec. 17, at Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg. Pastor Chris Garretson officiated.

Interment was held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Janet was born on June 10, 1933, in Saxton, daughter of the late Earl W. and Ethel Marie (Smith) Hinish.

She married Thomas R. Hoover on Sept. 11, 1952, in Saxton. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1989.

She then married Ithel "Ike" Wright on Aug. 8, 1992, in Martinsburg.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 26 years; two daughters: Debra A. Gochnour (Nevan) of Martinsburg and Susan E. Oliver of Carlisle; three sons: Randy T. Hoover (Carole) of State College, Donald R. Hoover of Washington, D.C., and Bruce E. Hoover (Ginger) of Muncy; two stepchildren: Daniel Wright (Kelly) of Columbia, South Carolina; and Julie Noem (Neil) of Leesburg, Virginia; eight grandchildren; four Step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Joan Wineland, Freda Buchanan and Sara Moffet.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: John E. and Ray W. Hinish.

Janet was a 1951 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School.

She was a member of Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, where she sang in the church choir, served as a deaconess, served on the altar flower committee and was a member of the Homebuilders Sunday school class. Janet also created the banners which were displayed for Sunday services at the front of the sanctuary.

She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed oil painting, gardening, sewing, golfing and volunteering at the Nason Hospital Gift Shop, Roaring Spring.
