Barnes Resigns from C-K Board After 18-Plus Years

The Claysburg-Kimmel School District is saying goodbye to one of its boardmembers who served for more than 18 years.

Cathy Barnes, who was first sworn in as a boardmember on June 14, 2000, has resigned from her position due to health reasons. Barnes submitted her resignation during the Dec. 5 board meeting. The board accepted Barnes' resignation, which is effective Dec. 31.

The C-K School District is seeking to fill the vacancy for the school boardmember position for the Greenfield Township District (Greenfield 2 or 3). Candidates must be a resident of the Claysburg-Kimmel School District, and also a resident of Greenfield Township Precinct 2 or 3, for at least one year prior to the date of appointment, and must be at least 18 years of age. 

Interested individuals are asked to submit a letter of interest and a statement of financial interest to Business Manager, Claysburg-Kimmel School District, 531 Bedford St., Claysburg, PA 16625, no later than Friday, Jan. 4, 2019.

Michelle Smithmyer, the district's business manager, said the board hopes to fill the position during the official meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

In other business at the December meeting, the board re-elected Richard Gergely and Shelda Repko as president and vice president, respectively.

Zack Repko was appointed assistant maintenance supervisor.
