    As Williamsburg struggles with the recent loss of its pharmacy, it was dealt another blow with the announcement that the Williamsburg Area Ambulance will be closing its doors at the end of the year. In a letter posted online by ambulance Chairman Robert S. Craig, rising costs and lack of personnel were cited as reasons for the closure.   • Woodbury Township Local Services Tax to Be Collected by Blair Bureau

    Woodbury Township (Blair) residents will now be paying their local services tax (LST) to the Blair County Tax Collection Bureau rather than at the township office. Solicitor Dave Pertile said during last Thursday evening’s meeting, Dec. 12, that the tax bureau is in agreement with the township to become the LST tax collector. It will charge 2.5 percent of the tax collected to township. Supervisor Craig Hamilton made a motion to allow the bureau to become the 2020 LST tax collector.     During its meeting Monday evening, Dec. 9, Williamsburg borough council adopted Ordinance No. 397, which increases the millage to 0.168 mills per $100,000 of home value. Councilmember Matthew Sabol made the motion to adopt the ordinance with Councilmember Bruce Hamilton seconding. In a roll call. vote only Councilmember Denny Hammel voted “no” to adopt the ordinance.     Williamsburg Area Ambulance has announced it will be shutting its doors and ceasing service effective Dec. 31. In a letter posted to the ambulance service’s Facebook page, Williamsburg Ambulance Chairman Robert S. Craig cited declining reimbursement from insurance companies as well as a lack of up and coming personnel to keep the ambulance running.
