Blair County’s Democratic Commissioner Ted Beam Jr. has apparently lost his bid for re-election, falling to challenger Democrat Laura Burke. Beam received 5,944 votes and Burke received 6,963. In Bedford County, the top story was in the race for sheriff, where Republican Wayne Emerick Jr. defeated Democrat Diane Nelson. Emerick earned 7,092 votes to Nelson’s 3,721.
