A Roaring Spring man angry over borough council’s decision to limit access to Plum Creek Mountain is facing charges after police said he scattered dozens of nails and screws in front of the borough building and along the roadway. A Newry man is behind bars after leading police on a chase in a car reported stolen. According to charges filed by Freedom Township police, on Oct. 23, an officer was on patrol along Dunnings Highway and Commerce Drive when he spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Hollidaysburg. The late Donald E. Witherspoon, the longtime president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Blair County chapter, was honored at the First Annual Blair County NAACP Freedom Fighter Gala held at the Casino at Lakemont Park on Oct. 27. The Cove Country Store Tour is now in its 13th year. Counting both spring and fall tours, this year’s fall tour will be the 25th Country Store Tour. An apartment building fire Sunday morning, Oct. 31, attracted eight area fire companies and displaced two Newry families. At its Nov. 1 meeting, Martinsburg Borough Council approved advertising of the 2022 Budget for 10-day public inspection.
