I must take issue with some of the statements made in Paul Politis’ letter to the editor (Herald of Feb. 27, 2020). First of all, the statement that “virtually every impartial legal scholar concluded that the president was guilty and the offenses were impeachable,” simply does not stand up to scrutiny. Foremost legal and constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley (along with a number of other legal experts) expounded, even during the impeachment hearings, on the unconstitutionality of the charges.
