On Dec. 11, Martinsburg Church of God will be hosting a Christmas tree giveaway. This event is the fourth of its kind; the first two were held at Woodbury Church of God and the third at Martinsburg. Jana Quarter Horse Farm was honored with the American Quarter Horse Association's Legacy Award, which commemorates 50 years of consecutive breeding. The farm officially started breeding in 1963. The Martinsburg Municipal Authority has proposed the replacement of 9,500 feet of waterline in Martinsburg. The waterline is located between Martinsburg Borough and the Lock Mountain water distribution system storage tank (located adjacent to Lock Mountain Road). The original 6-inch cast lines were installed in 1892. The new line will be 12 inches, which will allow more volume to come into town. According to Roaring Spring Community Library Director Michelle McIntyre, the library was shut down on March 13, 2020, due to the pandemic. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a discretionary grant to the Altoona-Blair County Airport Authority to enhance its runway. The grant is for a total of $423,741. The airport received a grant for the same purpose last year.
