    Editor’s note: This is a history piece written by a correspondent who goes by the pen name “Andromeda”. The Cove, once lush with mountain lions, bobcats, elk, white-tail deer, wild turkeys and pigeons so thick that they covered the sky, was a favorite hunting ground of the Native Americans. Bison were also present in the Cove, evident by the buffalo hides that Native Americans used to cover their wigwams.
